Coast Guard Station Lake Tahoe Wins 2008 Commodore Robert Phifer Award

Senior Chief Daniel J. Bennett of Station Lake Tahoe (middle) and CG Auxiliary Division 11 Captain Dee Dee Kincade (R) accept the Commodore Robert Phifer Award for Outstanding Active Duty/Auxiliary Cooperation from Captain David Swatland (L), Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Sector San Francisco.
Coast Guard Station Lake Tahoe was awarded the Commodore Robert Phifer Award at the 2008 District Training and Awards Conference held on March 15, 2008 in Modesto, CA. The Commodore Robert Phifer Award is awarded to the Coast Guard Small Boat Station who has the best relations and cooperation with the Auxiliary. Factors that determine the award are participation and cooperation in specific projects, events, trainings and fellowship events. Also taken into consideration is the mutual benefit and good relations that exist between the Auxiliary unit and the Coast Guard Small Boat Station. Chief Ray Holcombe, the Station Chief at Lake Tahoe from 2004-2007, brought the Phifer Award to Station Lake Tahoe in 2004. Chief Holcombe initiated the close cooperation between the Sierra Division Auxiliary and Coast Guard Lake Tahoe that continues today with the current Senior Chief Daniel Bennett and the personnel at Station Tahoe.
