Sierra Division 11 Training with Coast Guard Station Lake Tahoe
One of the many reasons the Coast Guard performs so well under adverse conditions, is that they constantly train their personnel. Sierra Division 11 Auxiliarists are fortunate to share in that training.
The following video shows a training session to qualify Coast Guard Boatswain's Mate 3, Reid Roach. The Auxiliary Vessel Yule Tide was the "disabled vessel" that Roach had to find, and then take into tow. He started out with a "long tow", converted to a "side tow" and brought the disabled vessel to a safe harbor.
The video is about 10 minutes long and details this training episode. North Shore Flotilla 1 Auxiliarists Dee Dee Kincade and Jack Leth manned the Auxiliary vessel pretending to be the "disabled vessel".
